Development Info

On Sackboy, I was on the Character Controls (3Cs) team, a sub-team dedicated to the development of Sackboy, and how the character interacted with the game world.

The main features I developed were the camera system, the power-ups, the respawn system, and something a little odd named the “Dark Matter Engine“.

Some smaller features I developed were the targeting system, the score system, and a rather complicated rope simulation which was eventually cut from the game.

I also helped the whole team by providing support to the level design, level objects, and the world map teams, and provided mentoring to more junior members of the team.

For a short while, I lead the Character Controls team through the “Toys Jam”, a period where we attempted to develop as many fun and exciting new toys for Sackboy as we could. These toys were demonstrated to the larger team, and a handful were then selected to remain in the final game.

After many years, specifications were written, bugs were fixed, and a lot of code was refactored, networked, optimised and ready to go.

I really do hope that you enjoy this game, as a lot of care and passion went into crafting it.
